Today, I decided to try a completely new medium in my craft studio…watercolour and gelatos with my stamping and card design.
I’ve had gelatos for quite some time and attempted to play briefly with them in other mixed media projects, but haven’t used them at all in my cardmaking efforts so far.
However, the other day a fellow krafty sister in Kraftin’ Kimmies’ Facebook community was showing what she had done with her stamps and gelatos and I absolutely loved the way it had turned out and it made me think “hmmmm”….so I decided to pull mine out. And I’m glad I did!
I loved how the first one turned out so much that I just kept going and going…
I first started out using Carson 140 watercolour paper that was 4×6 in size and stamped the images using Kraftin’ Kimmie Hybrid Ink in Wicked Black. It worked fabulous with the watercolours.
My gelatos are Faber-Castell and I have a combination of metallic and regular colours. Unfortunately, you can’t see the complete effect of the metallics in the photos. They are absolutely gorgeous! The shimmer and sheen to them is beautiful and just so perfect for my little fairies. I chose the stamps Teacup Fairy and Rosie Fairy especially because of the effects I was hoping to create. I actually started with the little friends hugging on the bottom. That stamp is part of the Squishy Hugs stamp set from Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps, as is the little girl hugging her cat upside down.
I went onto the fairies and then created cards with them today.
Rosie ended up just so beautiful that I wanted to keep the card relatively simple. I selected a translucent paper I had with almost the same kind of colours and flowers on it and used translucent adhesive to glue it to the card base. I then pop dotted the watercolour card to the base. I finished the card with gumdrops from Your Next Gumdrop.
I then did the same thing with Teacup Fairy. So simple and yet two beautiful cards!
Tomorrow, I’ll finish making cards with the Squishy Hugs set.
Thanks for stopping by!
