Time for a Yummy Challenge!

It’s another Saturday and that means it’s time for another weekly challenge at Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps and https://kraftinkimmiestamps.blogspot.com/. This will be my last one as a Guest Designer. Boy has this month flown by!! I have had so much fun helping to share in the release of the new February collection and all of this month’s challenges.

Karla is this week’s host and she chose Something Yummy as the topic for the Challenge.

I decided to create a card that would be full of Yummy Thanks.

The new Happiness is Homemade stamp is perfect for creating a sweet thank you card for a friend. I paired it with another Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamp set, Sincere Thanks, which offers so many wonderful ways to say thank you.

I started by cutting a simple white cardstock base. I used three of the Kraftin’ Kimmie Kolours — Pink Pizazz, Raspberry Rose and Pretty in Pink — and I blended them together on the edges of the card using my blender brushes.

Next, I decided I wanted to do a really subtle treatment using a soft embossing colour and the You’re The Sweetest sentiment stamp. After first prepping by brushing on a non-static powder, I used a Versamark watermark embossing ink and stamped the sentiment all around the edge of the card. Next, I used a really soft WOW embossing powder in Vintage Romance and heat set the card. It left a very soft effect. Just what I wanted.

I created my next layer by using the new Baking Bonanza stencil and Deco Transfer Gel Duo. I taped the stencil down using Purple Tape and then used a 1″ Prima silcone brush and a Stencil Buddy to layer the gel through the stencil. I carefully lifted my stencil off and left the card over night to dry.

The next day, once the gel was completely dry, I let my laminator heat up for a good 20-30 minutes. I chose DecoFoil in Pink Quartz for this project. I laid the foil over the top of the card, colour side up and cut it to the size of the card. Save your leftovers! You can use them on another project. I placed my 2 pieces into a parchment paper folder I have created for this purpose; I have also put a piece of cardstock in to add some support. I then ran this ‘sandwich’ through my hot laminator. I let the folder cool, and just like magic! you pull off the foil and you have a beautiful masterpiece ( I love doing this!)

I decided I would use a heart to carry the thank you sentiment on the front of the card. I didn’t want to cover up my fabulous foil, so I cut a heart out vellum using a Taylored Expressions Stitched Heart Stacklets die. I wanted to tuck it into the bottom corner so I cut it at an angle. I then embossed the sentiments from both sets using the Versamark ink. (Don’t forget to prep first!)

Next, I used Ranger embossing powder in Navy and heat set the heart. I added a few touches of Stickles in Stardust to add a little touch of glitter.

My little baker girl from the Happiness is Homemade set needed to be coloured up using my Copic markers. I stamped her using Kraftin’ Kimmie Kolours in Wicked Black. Hair: Y21, Y23, YR32; Skin: E00, E01, R20; Eyes: G16; Outfit: R00, R000; Shoes: Y0000; Cookies: E31, E42, E74.

I used vellum tape to adhere the heart to the foiled layer and I foam dotted my little baker to add some dimension. I also added foam strips all around the foiled layer to raise it up above the edged embossing.

One yummy thank card for a very sweet friend!

Cute critter challenge accepted!

It’s Saturday (thank goodness, I think this was the looongest week ever!) and that means the start of another challenge at Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps. Krafty Girl Brigette is the hostess this week and she chose the theme this week: Critters! I always say the cuter the better when it comes to critters, and there is no shortage of cute critters when it comes to the selection of stamps at Kraftin’ Kimmie!!

I chose to use the newly released Awesome Possums because I just think these little guys are way too cute! And they colour up so fast and that was really nice today I have to admit. Did I mention it was a long week? I literally pulled an all-nighter…and I’m the professor! Yes, it was that kind of week!

So, I wanted to quickly create a card, but have it still be awesome possum…ya I know, but I couldn’t resist!

I cut a quick 6×6 square cardstock base, and used a dark navy smooth cardstock for the bottom layer. I used a Your Next Die and diecut a layered large fishtail out of some Recollections blue foil paper and Rose Gold cardstock from Michaels. I first ran the blue foil through my Big Kick with the Happy Hearts Kraftin’ Kimmie Stencil to emboss it. Next, I used a YND die and cut out the windows. I glued it all onto the card base. I also used a die to cut out the letters. It is a brand new die from Picket Fence Studios. Just arrived in the mail today.

I stamped my little possums up using Kraftin’ Kimmie Kolours hybrid ink in Wicked Black and then coloured them in with my Copic markers. I used R20 on the nose, R000 in the ears, tummy, tail and paws. I used N0, N1, N2 & N3 for their fur. I’m liking that colour combo for these little guys.

I tied some gold and white twine onto the card and then tucked the one hanging little guy onto the twine, using foam dots. I actually cut under his chin to stick it onto the twine. The single head I popped foam dots on and placed him in the box.

I added some other interest by using the cut out squares unde the twine and then popped some sparkly embellishment candy dots on them. Final finishing touch was Stickles in Stardust on the edges.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Fishies Kisses to You!

What a busy week it has been with so many cards and so much creativity being shown by the amazing team at Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps.

I thought this card was a good one to share today as it is Valentine’s Day. The sentiment that came with Funny Fishes was perfect for today! I used my favourite Deco Foil technique to add the Wonderful Waves stencil from Kraftin’ Kimmie to create the background for the fishbowl stamp. I also used the Happy Hearts stencil on Blue Foil and ran it through my Big Kick to get the embossed effect. That’s the Aqua Adventure, the new ink, edging the the sentiment tag.

And don’t forget our awesome Mini Release cutie this month!! We have Tutu Sweet FREE with your order of $65 or more before shipping/tax! Won’t she be a ‘sweet’ surprise to receive with your goodies!! I used her on a Valentine treat bag, just doing a simple heat embossing treatment. Quick and fast to jazz up a red bag for some little gifts for today.

Creating a little love

Happy Saturday morning! It’s a snowy day here and I plan to spend it crafting away. It’s been a little while since I’ve had some time to get into my craft studio, but as a Guest Designer this month with Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps, I’m loving the push that it is giving me to be creative.

I created two sweet little cards to join in on the challenge today. I used the new Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps Together is Better stamp set released last month with cute as a button Lucas and Lexie. I let each of them be the star of their own card.

The base of the card with Lexie is a salmon pink cardstock. I used paper from the Simple Stories Love & Adore You 6×6 paper pad and cut a square slightly smaller than the card base.

I have recently been using Deco Foil film and love love love! the effect it gives. I used the Kraftin’ Kimmie Stencil Happy Hearts with the DecoTransfer Gel Duo. I brush it on with a Prima 1″ stencil brush and depending on how I feel, I may also use my Deco Foil Stencil Pal. I let the gel dry overnight and then applied Pink Quartz foil, a shimmery soft pink. So girly! After letting the paper cool, I cut it into a slightly smaller square and centred it on the card.

Next, I stamped Lexi using Kraftin’ Kimmie Inks in Wicked Black and I coloured Lexi using my Copic markers. I used E01, E00, Y21, Y23, YR31, R85, CO, R20, R21, R32, RV11, C7, C8. I added Glossy Accents to add shine to the balloon stripe and to make Lexi’s shoes look like they are black patent. (You can’t really see it in the photo.)

I used my Sakura Gelly Roll metallic pens in Gold 703 to add highlights to Lexi’s hair and the flowers on her belt and in her hair.

I chose a Doodlebug mini doily in pink and placed it off centre, deciding that I would add one of the sentiment cards from the paper pad. I used foam dots to raise up the sentiment card and did the same with Lexi. I placed her off to the side to add visual interest. I created a tiny little sentiment tag using the Love You! stamp from the set and and a fish tail die from Your Next Stamp. I edged the tag with Kraftin’ Kimmie Colours hybrid inks in Pretty in Pink and Precious Pink. I added one heart sequin to finish the tag.

I added salmon sequins from Studio Katia, My Valentine sequins from 28 Lilac Lane and red crystal hearts from Sparkletz by Buttons Galore. The final touch was adding Stardust Stickles around the edges of the square paper layers. A sweet little card for a special person.

For that special man in our lives, big or small, I created a card featuring Lucas. He’s just so precious carrying a flower and a box of chocolates for someone he loves.

I used a red cardstock card as the base, and selected another one of the papers from the Simple Stories Love & Adore paper pad. I pulled out matching sentiment 2×2 and 2×3 cards and a strip that I though would work nicely together.

I used my Big Kick and Wonky Twisted Rectangles die from MFT to cut the paper and centred it on the cardstock. I then added a red mini doily from Doodlebug and added it not quite centre and more left. I wanted to add the sentiment cards down the right side and the strip across the bottom. I used foam mounts to pop up the sentiment cards to add dimension.

I coloured Lucas using my Copic markers; I used E0, E02, R20, B34, B45, B21, B23, R49, E34, E19, E57, E59, E74, E79, RV09, G28, R37, G07. I fussy cut him out and used tiny foam mounts to pop him up as well in the centre of the doily.

I used Sakura Gelly roll pen in Gold metallic #703 on the flower centre and Silver #553 on his buttons.

I edged the stamp sentiment, You had me at hello! also die cut from the Wonky Twisted Rectangle set, with Kraftin’ Kimmie Kolours hybrid ink in Crisp Crimson and Pink Pizazz using my Picket Fence blender brushes.

The final touch was adding black Party Time Dots from Kraftin’ Kimmie.

A card just perfect from some little cutie!

Getting a little Skrappy…

For those of you in the know, that means we’re creating something other than a card. It could be a tag, a scrapbook page, a bookmark or playing with your journal or daytimer.

Getting creative with my monthly calendar

I decided to get creative with my daily planner this month, and add some graphics to add colour and help remind me of things that need to be done…like garbage night. Which is tonight….and if I had been really smart, I would have used the little garbage icon in the Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps Planner Doodles set and colour coded it on my page! Bubbly Blue Krafty Kolours Hybrid Ink for the recycling week and Totally Taupe for the Clear or garbage week. Duh! But I didn’t think of that until I had used the Totally Taupe for both weeks in the cycle. Oh well, next month! Never a mistake, just another creative opportunity!

I also used a number of the other Planner Doodles icons on my Planner Monthly Calendar page. I make my own Planner Pages now after years of buying them. I just found I couldn’t get exactly the right system to work for me. So, I made my own.

I added the wonderful little cutie pie from the new Together is Better stamp set that Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps re-released in clear last month. It’s a Krafty Komeback stamp. Lexi is just cute as a button. Her buddy Lucas is also part of the set and they are perfect for Valentine’s Day.

Of course, I had to have my newest little sweetie on my page, and that would be the stamp from A Purr-fect Day that reminds me of my 11-month old kitten, Abi. Oh! It’s her birthday today….well, monthly. That means she will be one year next month. Monkey kitty! And I just saw that this stamp is on sale! Bonus!!

I always like to use motivational sayings on my planner pages and the last Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamp set I used on my page is one of my favourites for that, Happy Thoughts. It’s a much loved and well used stamp.

The Krafty Kolour Hybrid Inks I used on my Planner Page were Wicked Black, Pink Pizazz, Ruby Red, Precious Pink, Berry Bold, Bubbly Blue and Totally Taupe.

I used my Copic Markers to colour in Lexi and little Abi and I used R00, R11, R20, R29, R46, E01, E02, E42, E50, E53, B41, V20, Y32 and YR31.

Today kicks off another Skrappy Challenge over at Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps. Each month, Kim invites everyone to play along for a chance to win prizes.

The theme of course is ANYTHING BUT A CARD! For this challenge you can make anything that strikes your fancy….except a card! So design a new scrapbook page, bookmark, tag, altered item, planner page, art journal, ATC cards…whatever you like! Just make sure to include some Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps products and make sure it’s a new creation! As soon as we have at least five people playing along, we’ll be giving away a $10 gift voucher to the krafty shop as the monthly prize!
