I got a special request from my youngest tonight..she asked if I could create a birthday card to go with the gift she and her friends had just come back from the mall getting for another friend’s birthday. Oh, and could she have it for tomorrow??? Said of course with that smile…yes, that one. It was 8pm. Of course I said yes.
I still needed to create my card for Day 12 of the Kolour It Up Challenge and I had set out the items I thought I was going to be using for that already. Well…things change!
So, one beachy themed birthday card coming right up!
Oh, and not only did it need to be beach themed, but the character needed to have dark hair, like the friend. I don’t like doing dark hair…I find it harder to do. Something I need to practice more of. Most of my characters have blond hair you will notice…maybe that’s because I’m blonde, hmm….
Anyways, I started with a backdrop of the same paper I used yesterday because it seemed beachy and sunny to me, the 7 Dots Studio Love is in The Air.
I then used three different Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamp sets for this card: At The Beach as the background scene, Beachy Keen for the character and Kick Assy Birthday! for the sentiments on the front and the inside of the card.
I stamped the scene and character on Spectrum Noir paper and coloured in with my Spectrum Noir and Copic markers.
Water: TB3, TB4 I also used Distress Ink Oxide in Faded Jeans overtop with a wet smudger.
Sand: TN2, TN3 and I used Distress Ink in Antique Linen over top.
Trees, Bushes, Grass: CG1, CG2, CG4, Bark: TN1
Rocks: CB2, BG2, BG3, BG4, BG10, IG1, IG4, IG5
Skin: E04, E00, E11, FS5, FS6
Swimsuit: IB2, IB3, Towel: IB1, IB2 Gelly Roll Green #729
Hair: EB10, EB7, EB5, EB6 Wink of Stella Black
I used my Big Kick and my rectangular stitched die from Your Next Die to cut out the background scene and then I pop dotted it to the background card. I then used Kraftin’ Kimmie’s Hybrid Ink in Yummy Yellow and sponged it on lightly to create the sunny day on the scene.
I then fussy cut the swimsuit girl and pop dotted her to the scene with her foot hanging off a bit.
With a smaller die cut, I cut out a rectangle for the It’s Your Birthday sentiment and then a smaller oval for the Girl! sentiment and stamped both of them and pop dotted them.
I used three shades of baker’s twine on the spine of the card tied in a bow to finish the front.
Inside, I used two layers of rectangular diecuts in papers that matched the colours on the front: pink from Recollections Wedding Neutrals and yellow from AC Cardstock Tropicals.
I then stamped right onto the pink layer with the Kick Assy Birthday sentiments and balloon stamps.
One sassy little birthday card done!
Thanks for stopping by!
