Kicking Off Fall with a New Look!

It’s September and to me, that has always been like the start of the year in a lot of ways. Kids start school and adults get back into the routine of everyday life. It seemed to be a great time to get my Distinctively Diana blog in order too. Time to refresh and start anew. So I chose to go with a great new look for this site and a renewed commitment to posting about my creative journeys.

I’ve also kicked off a new Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest page and Twitter account all connected to Distinctively Diana. My goal is to explore the creative, lifestyle, decorating and entertaining sides of me through these pages. I hope you’ll join me as I share some of my thoughts, my creations and my finds.

Pretty Kitties for Cold Winter Days

Welcome to Day TWO of the January Peeks at Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps!

Today we have a second stamp set from artist Cheryl Grant and I think you’ll agree…it’s purr-fect! 😉 It’s called PRETTY KITTIES!

This sweet new set features little girl Lexi and a trio of her adorable fluffy friends!!! It features one large main image plus SEVEN coordinating sentiments!

I think this set is just so sweet…it will be great to use for thank you cards, little love notes and for friendship cards. Perfect with Valentine’s Day coming up! That’s what inspired me today. I’m so excited to be a Guest Designer again that I couldn’t help but to surround little Lexi and her friends with lots of hearts and love.

I used one of my Silhouette card dies to cut out the lacy base card with all the beautiful heart detail.

It’s Day 2 of the first launch of 2017 and we have a pretty little miss with her kittens.

It’s Party Time!! Kicking off the year with a new release from Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps!

So happy to be joining one of my favourite companies, Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps as a Guest Designer this month. And just in time to help kick off the New Year!

Woot, woot! It’s time to start the PARTY!!! Welcome to Day ONE of the first release of 2017 at Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps!

Today we’re kickin’ things off with a very appropriate set of ADORABLE animal stamps by artist Cheryl Grant! It’s called PARTY ANIMALS!!!

This sweet new set features a large main image of some sweet animals getting ready to celebrate! It also features FIVE awesome sentiments in a mixture of fun and funky fonts!

  

Wheeee!!! So, here’s my take on celebrating this wonderful new launch:

Celebrating the first 2017 Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamp launch of the year as a Guest Designer with her new release, Party Animals!

I love how the characters are grouped together which made it so easy to make them the focal point of the card. They are just such a happy little bunch! Love the little bird! There’s five sayings to choose from and I used three.

I used a Happy Birthday card die cut on my Silhouette machine, and the same for the two centre pieces.  The balloon card stock has glitter on the balloons which I echoed in the glitter paint on the dabs and on the hat poufs. It’s hard to tell in the photo though. A little bit of ribbon, and a hat button…and off to the party we go!

Welcome to Distinctively Diana!

My love of creating beautiful mementos for the special people in my life has evolved into this new venture.

Over the years, my background in journalism, public relations, event planning and marketing has always been enhanced by my creative abilities. I was always the one pulled into the boardroom to sew the last minute adjustments to costumes, or to go find the perfect items for media kits or to craft the wonderful gift baskets we would be giving away on air. And I loved doing all of that.

On top of that, I was always creating things in my craft studio at home. I started stamping and scrapbooking before they were even a “thing”. There were no stores, no specialized products — just me, cutting and pasting.

And then I would explore on trips to the U.S….oh the difference back then between there and here when it came to crafts! And any die hard crafty person will understand now when I saw I actually worked for a company here that had me going to Provo, Utah, home of Provo Crafts which at the time was this amazing craft store that just stopped me in my tracks. And had me trying to figure out how I could get stuff home.

I’ve had a gift basket business, held craft shows in my home, sent custom-designed media kits across Canada and the U.S., planned parties for Beyonce and P.Diddy and even planned weddings. And I’ve loved every minute of it. Now I want to share what I’m doing, what I’m creating, beyond my craft studio.
