Decking the Halls With a Bright Little Birdie

I have another happy little Christmas birdie to celebrate Day 3 of the Colour It Up Challenge at Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps.

I just love this little guy! He’s twinkling he’s so happy to celebrate the season, with his bright little string of metallic lights. 

I used the Kimmie’s Merry & Bright Birdies stamp set and coloured them in with my Copics and Spectrum Noir markers. I coloured the string of lights on both the birdie and the sentiment with Gellyroll metallic markers.

I embossed the Holly & Ivy background with a Darice Holly Vines folder and diecut the mini sentiment tag with my Sizzix, edging it with Distress Oxide ink in Festive Berries.

The fabulous larger light bulbs embellishments I have had for years and years and thought perfect! I added the extra little holly berry in the corner and tied tri-coloured twine with a bow to finish the card off. Not sure where either of those came from…other than my stash!!!

A Snowy Scene of a Christmas Tag

Day 2 of the Kolour It Up Challenge over at Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps and so I headed into my krafty studio tonight to stay on track.

What to make…what to make??

I actually have so made ideas for this holiday season and so many gift and card ideas to tackle but my time is limited tonight so I thought I was going to do something simple….and then I went off in another direction! LOL! Sometimes that’s the most fun.

I used the new Holiday Village set and chose a sentiment from the new Holly Jolly Ornaments set and added in snowflakes from the Perky Penguins set. I can see a theme here….certain stamps are going to get used over and over and over again.

I used a Christmas bulb shape that I cut out with my Silhoutte Cameo machine. I then used the new Krafty Basics Stencil from Kraftin’ Kimmie and the new Bubbly Blue Hybrid Ink and inked in some snowbanks.

Then I used my Misti platform to stamp in the scene. After I stamped the sentiment in Northern Pine Memento Ink, I decided to emboss it with Diamond embossing powder to make it sparkle. I used a combination of my Copic and Spectrum Noir markers to colour the scene.

Then I just had to highlight the snowmen, trees, house and fence line with Liquid Applique and Glamour Dust to create the magic. It’s so unfair that the picture just doesn’t do it justice. It sparkles.

I used my Gellyroll Stardust pen to edge the entire bulb as well as the middle of the snowflakes to add a final touch. Well, I guess the Christmas lightbulb ribbon and twine is the final, final touch!

And Day 2 is a wrap!

A Happy Little Fairy to Pick Up My Mood

I am a little tired today…I’m getting my youngest ready to head back to college on Wednesday and her first apartment.  Never an easy task. This time around it means I’m giving up the table in my craft studio for her kitchen area and today I made the ultimate sacrifice and gave up the couch in my office for her living room. Sniff, sniff….I love this couch. I sit on it almost every day to read, work, make notes, sit on a phone call…I will miss this couch. But we can’t afford to buy her a whole couch right now so this was the only choice…sniff, sniff….

So, between cleaning the craft paint off the top of the table from my craft room and moving everything around in there and cleaning the table that has been sitting in the garage to replace it (let’s see how this goes) and moving things into the living room in anticipation, it’s been a busy day. But, I still needed to get some creative time in to stay on track with the Colour It Up Challenge over at Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps. Only one day left and I haven’t missed a day yet! I’m  not about to start now!

So, my choice today was to help pick me up a bit…

A happy little fairy spreading some happy thoughts which I need today

Funny how I create the cards that I need to be sent!!

The stamp I used is a retired one from Kraftin’ Kimmie called Fairy Loved. I coloured her in with my Spectrum Noirs and Copic Markers. Oh and because I think fairies sparkle, I brush her all over with Wink of Stella in Clear.

I used Kraftin’ Kimmie Hybrid Inks in Mermaid Melody and Purple Pansy on the edges of the base card and then on each of the stamped image card and the sentiment card.

The purple and gold foil bow paper is from a 6×6 pad from Forever in Time called Foil Fancy in Gilded Chic.

The sentiment stamp is a Penny Black stamp called Happy Thoughts which I stamped in the KKS Purple Pansy.

I pop dotted the image card and the sentiment card but I used a flatter pop dot on the sentiment card so it would sit below the fairy. I knew I wanted to do the sequin trail from the fairy’s hand. I used sequins from Craft Medley in Viola and Buttons Galore & More’s 28 Lilac Lane collection in Mixed Berry. I add glue in each spot I want a sequin with a pointed wooden skewer stick and then I place the sequin…a few choice sailor words later, I have a sequin trail!

Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head…

It poured here this afternoon. Absolutely poured…and that was the inspiration for the card I created this evening.

I decided I would use the Kraftin’ Kimmies Stamps set “Puddle Pals” and choose the little mouse. Carrying the beautiful little tulip, one of my favourite flowers and using a leaf as shelter, he’s just so darn cute!

I used blue stock paper as the base on my card and then cut out some square stitched frames using dies from Your Next Die to use as accent pieces under the stamping image stitched rectangle I die cut.

I stamped my little friend using Memento Black Tuxedo ink and coloured him in with my Spectrum Noir markers. I added some Glossy Accents on the leaf and water droplet to add highlights. I then edged the rectangle in Distress Ink Oxide Faded Jeans.

I then pop dotted the coloured rectangle. I stamped the sentiment on another die cut piece and then edged it as well. I taped it on flat under the edge of the image.

My final step was to add some gumdrops from Your Next Gumdrop.

Fearless and Fabulous!

I love stamps and creative elements that speak to being a strong women and raising strong women. That’s why when Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps launched Fearless Farrah last year, I loved her. She’s been on my To Play With List ever since then and today I was able to check her off that list! Love that feeling!

I started by pulling paper out of my stash with a building theme. I think I bought it for when I was scrapbooking renovations on my house or cottage, but it works perfectly for this card. I used it as the base of the card.

Next, I used my Your Next Die rectangular stitched die and cut out a base for my stamped image from blue textured stock which I pop dotted onto the card.

I then stamped Farrah onto my Spectrum Noir stamping paper and coloured her in with my Spectrum Noir and Copic markers. I actually cut the stamping paper out with the same rectangular stitched die first, one size smaller. I then pop dotted the coloured image onto the blue rectangle.

Oh! One note about the pink worker’s boots: I actually own pink construction boots. They are real and they are designed in Canada by a Canadian company called Moxie Trades which specializes in construction gear for women. I also have a pink tool belt and a pink construction helmet.

I then used both blue and green baker’s twine and tied it to the centre of the card front. Before tying the knot, I added two metal embellishments, a hammer and a set of pliers, which I had purchased last year specifically with this stamp set in mind.

Next, I stamped two sentiments onto shaped cards and edged them with Distress Ink Oxides in Faded Jeans. I pop dotted them onto the layered stamped image card.

And done! One fearless awesome empowerment card for Day 18 of the Kolour It Up Challenge at Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps! Whoo hoo!
